Vector Research speakers Vsp/82

Vector Research VSP/82 two way speakers have been tugging at me for awhile now:yes: efficient @ 85 db /1w /meter peaked my interest, Any information or suggestion would be appreciated due to lack of information on the internet.

Here's a bump to a really old thread. I'm also looking at a pair of Vector speakers -- 102s. I can't find any information about them. Anybody out there? (Hears crickets chirping . . .)

Why would "efficient @ 85 db /1w /meter" pique anyone's interest.

I had a Vector Research receiver in the 80s that I liked very much, but know nothing of their speakers.

The sensitivity rating tells how much power a speaker needs to play at a certain volume. 85 db is at the low end of the spectrum, those speakers would want some power (50 watts or more is my guess) to sound great. A lot of speakers from the tube era are 10 db or so more sensitive (95 db/1w/1m). Those will play fine with just a few watts. Klipsch Kornerhorns are 105 db sensitive and can be driven to listening levels from a headphone jack.

Can you audition them with your receiver? That would be best.

Thanks again, Markshan. The explanation of sensitivity ratings clarifies things a lot. And I'm now understanding why a couple of people have recommended Klipsch speakers to me for my old Kenwood amp.

The Vectors might work for the Denon, which is rated at 80W/channel. The speakers are at a private seller's on Craigslist. Maybe I'll lug the amp over to his place tomorrow and check 'em out.
