Venture Electronics "Odyssey"

I was going through amplifiers / dacs that i can easily take along with me on my long travels. Something that is not too expensive, something that is not cumbersome or possibly something that i don't have to charge etc. I came across "Audio Quest Dragon Fly" and for 200$ it was too much; but my search did not stop there. Then i stumble upon this thing called "Venture Electronics Odyssey" in another word "V.E Odyssey" in their website. It was only 10$, first i thought it was just a cable then when i inquired around i was told that it is a "Dac & Amp".

WOW!!!! for 10$??????

i ordered one right away and it came via mail few days back; it came in a little blue color pouch with V.E name on it. I thought of writing down my experience on audiokarma because i think it deserves to be known. This little device was so amazing....!

Equipment i tried it with.

HP Notebook
Xiaomi Redmi 5 AI Dual camera

Songs i used to test it ( All lossless flacs )

My love by Kovacs
Kiss the rain by Billie Myers
I don't wanna miss a thing by Aerosmith

Headphones i tried it with.

V.E Monk Plus ( their own ear buds )
KZ ZS5
KZ ZS1
KZ ATR

Sennheiser HD650 (6XX to be precise and YES!!! i was crazy enough to try it with my HD6XX which is known to have 300Ohm impedance)

VE Monk Plus!

I thought of starting with the VE Monk plus! because i believe Odyssey is tuned to get the best out of VE MONK PLUS!. I played few of my favorite song. I felt like sound is overall so much better than the direct out of the phone. Bass is so full sometimes overwhelmingly good. Even though i put the volume level to around 30 to 40% it was loud and ODYSSEY was powerful enough to drive the monk plus to deafening levels. Monk plus sounded so much better instantly.

KZ ZS 5

One of my favorite headphones from all the headphones i have and this is where VE ODYSSEY excelled in to otherworldly levels. I've been using KZ ZS5 for more than a year and it never sounded so good. Sound was fuller, and Odyssey took away all the anemic sound levels and bass problems i had when i used it with my phone. Also took away the sibilant harshness of the KZ ZS5. It is totally an amazing product to pair with ZS5. I think anyone who owns a KZ ZS5 and a phone just like me.... Odyssey is a definite buy to upgrade the sound to an amazing level.

KZ ATR

Sound has improved instantly and it sounds so much fuller with improved overall.

KZ ZS1

The "lord bass" i call it. with odyssey it had become the GOD BASS. Amazing sound stage was added for already dark laid back bass headphones. Loud like hell just past the 30% volume!!!!

For testing purpose i just plugged my Sennheiser HD650 to the VE ODYSSEY. Well it was connected to laptop at that moment and surprisingly odyssey ran it very well. not loud but at full volume everything was so nice to listen to. Very smooth and detailed. for some it may lack volume but for me at room silence it was perfectly enjoyable. There are few more full size yet below 50ohm impedance i have which i will check in the future. For now all i can say is....

"VE ODYSSEY" is just something AMAZING! to own. I truly appreciate what it does to my KZ ZS5 and VE MONK PLUS which it take on long drives. No hassle like carrying an amplifier, just Odyssey and you have some great hassle free sound.

** by all means i am not a professional audio guy or a audiophile and i don't have equipment to measure the perfection of sound. but i do got love for music and i can identify what sounds good. So take this as my experience using "Odyssey".

You can get more information about it or order it from VE official site.
