veritas 2.3 vs kef 105/2

orsen

Jukebox Hero
i have kef 104/2 and the veritas and am very pleased with both
when company ask about the kef i always tell them that they will never leave this house
then i found a set of 105/2 but the guy looked at ebay and jacked his prices and wouldnt budge.
so i bought the veritas they sound very good also

so now here we are a year latter and the guy has relisted his 105.
i have seen them they are in a mansion and never used they are spotless.
i can have them for 600
he sold the stereo last year it was all kyocera
i dont need them, but i do want them
how do they sound compared to the 104/2 or veritas?
if i get them, something will have to go in the storage room for a while or be sold
how much bigger is the foot print? this does matter
i have yammie ns 1000m sitting in storage now that i have never even hooked up
is the 105 a worthy pursuit ?

the poor poor veritas has had its feelings hurt, its been cast into the storage room for now
the 105's are hooked up to the front of the room
they sound phenomenal
they dont have any relation to the 104 except brand
i get the "in your face" about the 104 now
i luv my mids but the 105 are so laid back
piano sounds like piano and being able to aim them is a major plus
the bass is out of this world compared to the 104
i have the kube for the 104 and the 105 have convinced me to "maybe" try it [ i never have, they sounded great to me]
if i want loud and good, the 104 are on another amp with a 12" paradigm sub.

ever wanted to book time off work ... just to be with your system?
i'm there today
you know? when its loud, but you cant tell cause its so clean, and your kid come out of his cave and says "why's it so loud"
and you just grin :D

i can see so many combos right now placements, pairings.
the veritas may well replace the mission 770 for tv duty.. they are too nice to just sit
the 105 look odd where they are they are so short compared to all these towers [ they look much bigger with covers on, but i have 4 cats so the covers are a no no]
and the 770's are on stands on the tv stand to make everything there a symmetrical height

current system

pc - yaquin tube buffer - emotiva basx preamp/dac - y cables - emotiva upa 200 - kef 105/2
other side of y cable
yamaha m-70 - kef104/2 - paradigm 12" sub
sony ps-x70 ortofon red

i have yammie ns-1000m to throw in this mix, [supposedly direct competition to the 104] i have never heard them.. thats in weeks to come

Congrats on great purchase!
Very accurate description of the KEF 105/2. I love mine and remember seeing them first time as teenager.

Regards,

Can someone help me bring my wonderful KEF 105 series 2s back to life? Before going into storage some years ago, someone removed the connecting spigot for the Middle/High Frequency Enclosure and I have been unable to ascertain the correct wiring sequence for the 6 coloured wires (Blue, Red, Green, Yellow, White, Black) that go into the back of the plastic spigot. I have tried to emulate both the wiring sequence inside the top unit the one inside the bottom unit but neither are correct (the latter results in either low volume and the former in top-end distortion).
Could someone kindly come to my rescue with the correct sequence perhaps using the plastic guide plug as a reference?
Great thanks in advance, Michael (from Turin, Italy)
