So an unexpected pair of speakers are on the way. Victor SX-1000 Laboratory. Non US models, they have the host of the exotic prevalent in the Japanese ultra designs of the day. Diamond tweeters, diamond and ceramic mids, a sandwich composite woofer of carbon fiber over a honeycomb core, all AlNiCo motors, air core indicators, foil and poly caps, biwire, etc. Cabinets of Canadian maple solids for the back and baffle, manufactured maple for the sides. Custom bases of birch and yellow pine. Birds eye veneer top it off, finished in Italy. All handmade and mega rare due to cost. I’ll report after they arrive. Not huge at 36 x 21 x 16.5 on the stands, but about 100KG each. I’ll hazard to say that these are Victor’s best speaker effort.

I was wondering when these were going to debut! This is love at first sight no doubt! Can't wait for the sonic report.

That would be great, but im kind of curious about what you might consider to be your dream speakers? Of course im sure it's hard to say if only based upon reviews.
 
That’s the regular SX-1000. This is the SX-1000 Laboratory. There was a ¥860,000 difference between the two.(¥900,000 v, ¥1,760,000) Some of that was in the revised drivers and crossovers, some was in the cabinet structure, the rest was the custom stand and finish.

Nothing beats an upgrade like that! Just unbelievable really, at least in my mind. I think they weigh more than a LOT of bricks, lol. Considering the design, materials, and cost, they should hopefully perform as you expect them to.
