Video of your listening space

Super Member
This sight has one of if not THE best threads with pictures of a multitude of listening spaces I've ever come across. There's even a Part 2 though the first one hasn't been shut down yet?

Anyhow, another thread was created recently for those of us with small listening spaces in particular. As one of those members with a small space I always find it difficult to capture what my space REALLY feels/looks like with still photos. A member posted a video of their space and it did a much better job of communicating what their space was really like. So after one too many cups of coffee this fine Sunday morning I thought I'd start a dedicated thread for those of us wishing to share a video tour of our spaces with our fellow AKers.

Here's mine:

Very cool tour...I'll put something together to contribute to this thread. In the meantime, can you shoot a link to the vendor that sells those prints through Fab? I can't find them and would like to check them out...

The first one you see is from "Madpixel", can't see anything on the table radio one, the Muse print says "lalalandposters.com", the Beatles one was a gift, the Listen To Your Heart with headphones is by Roll & Tumble Press, the one below it is titled "Rockstar", the Noel Gallagher one is by Blacktop, the "Stereo" print is by Christopher David Ryan, the Wilco one is by The Heads Of State, the Let It Be one doesn't say anything but is made from Adobe color samples, and the Oasis one was from a local artist.

Also should add that Amazon rocks for finding wacky frame sizes at reasonable prices. Most of the ones you see are from Art To Frames. Not the best frame I've ever seen but very nice for the price.

Hope that helps somewhat. Can't wait to see your room!

Good stuff skizo! But you've got to get us some video of those lights in action!

Careful what you ask for ...

Excuse the chickens ... YouTube was going on about copyright infringement, so I had to disguise the music a bit ...

I just noticed I didn't do a slide for the Big Mac ... have to work on that.

Also, here's the amp I'm building to fill in that empty spot on the top of the cabinet ...

Got another layer or two of wiring to go on it, but the weather's been to nice to spend in the shop ...

Woah! Is it all tied to the visualizes that's running on the screen/monitor?

That's a sweet looking amp you're building. How will you tie it in to the rest of the system and switch between it and what you currently have?

Bill

Yup ... the visualization is sound active, and I've got a bunch of those to switch between. I'm only sitting about six feet in front of the 22" monitor, so it definitely does the job. That's where those big old quads are handy - I already had to build the cabinet with shelves wide enough to fit those bad boys. Big fan of the SoundSpectrum Aeon visualization/screensaver ... plugs right into jRiver Media Center. The photo floods get signal from the rear headphone jack on my Sansui quad (lucky me, the speakers stay active with a plug in the jack) and the Chauvet mini strips are in sound active mode. I've since ganged those with an XLR cable for mirrored output.

The amp is a custom Latino ST120, and I'll be able to A/B that with the McIntosh MC2205 using a Niles DPS-1 switchbox. Nice little box - pricey, but quality.

Tube amps really excel at jazz, orchestral, and vocals, where the punch of the Big Mac will still get regular sessions when I'm spinning hard core audio porn. Besides ... this way the amp stays where it is, which at 90 pounds, is a good thing. <G>

Worth mention ... if anyone else is contemplating using an A/B switch with tube amps, be sure to turn them off prior to switching. Tubes need to see a load at the outputs, and can get really annoyed if it's not there ... Talk about explosive tempers! <G>
