vintage aiwa minicomponent question

Good day all!
I recently picked up one of those cool minicomponent aiwa from the 80s. It comes with a Audio Timer unit that is missing control cables.
The full set is:
Aiwa FM-AM Tuner R50,Aiwa stereo cassette deck L50,Audio Program Timer MT-50,Aiwa remote control receiver R 300,Aiwa pre-amp C50,Aiwa DC stereo power amplifier P-50,Aiwa remote controller T300,

I have all cables except the Audio Program Timer MT-50 unit control cables(2) they plug into hole(s) similar to a 1/8 earphone hole, but it is not. I am trying to figure out what kind of connector/cable they are and were I can find them

Anyone out there knows?

:scratch2:

IF it is in fact a TRS plug, then I have some 1/8" male to male cords for a Kenwood rack system. It connected the receiver to the tape deck for remote control and to the cd player for record sync. PM me if you want them.

Yeah, A pic would be good. I have a tuner/integrated amp Mini-Compo set. Even have a spare tuna. Surprisingly nice gear.

Ok, I think I know what you are talking about. Smaller then 1/8", I had an 80's Panasonic micro-sized "walkman" that used it. I remember I could only use the headphones that came with it because of this. An adaptor made it stick out and be prone to damage.

Tom, The gear in that pic looks familiar! :D

How's winter treating you out there in the mountains?

it is freaking awesome, i actually had one years ago in highschool and always loved it...cool looking and well made. i picked this one up on e-bay. The full version. I do not remember if they had a mini reverb unit though. I even have the turntable. Pretty cool

Sorry to come on board late. However, as I have the same system as you, and have used it m every day sinse I bought it in 1980, I thought I would let you know. I also have the user manuals for the system. The cable(s) you are missing is only used for indication on the Timer the reminding tape time. Two more cables are needed if you had the Turntable that could be a part of the system. The cable is only two wires (center and shield). If you need some more informations, please feel free to contact me.

Do you have manuals and cables for the timer? or remote unit?? I'm looking for the large controller cable but cannot find any info on it, even in regards to the pinout so I could perhaps make one. I was hoping the manuals might have some information on the cable. If possible, I would love to get copies of the timer, tape deck and remote control receiver/controller manuals if anyone has them. Thanks!

Aiwa Documentation

As you may understand I’m quite inexperienced to this “Forum type communication”, and I’m not on there to often – for a few weeks I was checking frequently, but then I forgot all about it -sorry.
What I do have are the Operating Instructions, one booklet for each unit. They give very little technical information, mostly a front and rear picture of the units, with a reference number for each; knob, light, indicator, connector, etc., and a listing, describing each of the above mentioned items. All of this is in four languages, and the number of A-5-pages, range between 16 - Power Amplifier (smallest) and 40 – Cassette Deck (largest), organized in such a way that it is difficult to remove anything. There is only a basic diagram showing the interconnections in the booklets for the Remote Control Unit, and the Stereo Preamplifier, one for the whole system and the other one without the Remote Control Unit. There is no tech-data on any of the cables, but a column of specifications for the respective unit in each booklet. In my opinion it is a lot of paper with limited value. However, I have taken care of it since I have the system (and may be an old, bad habit). After all this, I am afraid that you would be quite disappointed to obtain all this, and you most likely have found out already. However, if you explain to me how I can send it to you, I will copy the specification pages, and may be some other pages, that you think can have some value.
Finally, a little bit about how I happened to get involved in this discussion. My Aiwa-system is my main Audio system, with a Bose Acoustimass-5 speaker system and a Technics SL 10 record player. The Receiver has fore quite some years, had an intermittent failure in the power distribution. The Signal Strength-, and the Frequency-indication, and Audio out “die”, but after a couple of minutes in Power Off, it work well again. Most of the time, it is months between each time this problem happens. After the first few times, I tried to isolate the problem, but could not get the problem to show up, with the box open - something most service mechanics have experienced. Last winter, however, the problem repeated. a few times more often than earlier, and I thought I might get hold of the schematic, and try to get it cured. And thus, searching the internet I came across your write-up. Now, the system has performed very well for a long time, and because my prime interest is the Tandberg Audio equipment, the Aiwa question has been forgotten.
