Vintage Altec Valencia 846u Speakers, - $995 (Greece)

Sounds like a lot but I don't know what these go for. Not mine and no affiliation.

I think those are 846b's. I think his priceis a bit high considering the condition. I'd offer $750 and consider that my best offer.

I'd be happy to get them for the $600 mark.

They look a little bit 'beat-up' for the asking price,but then again the seller may have factored-in some 'wiggle-room' for negotiations. :thmbsp:

definitely 846U, surface wood is obviously birch and amateur finished.

and, well of course they're labeled 846U.

I don't know man, he is not far off on his asking price. I actually think they are in great condition. You could sliver in a piece of birch veneer and either reveneer or replace the risers with solid wood. These are the better Valencia cabs as far as sound goes IMO. If you want a pair of Altecs, not much work to be done to those. I have found them way more trashed for a little, not much, less. The drivers, if working, are worth his asking price but no more. That's tops. Offer a little less if you want to walk out feeling like you got a better than market deal.

They were ahead of the times for sure Steve.

I've had both 846A's & B's and I'll take the stock sound of the A's anytime over the B's. You can hear the ports breathe on the B's. For that price I'd hold out for some in better condition. There were a pair of A's in great shape that went for 850.00 or less on Portland CL.
