Vintage Ampex Crossover Cap Help

Happy New Year,

I am a noob and would like some insight. I seem to believe the 1 capacitor is for the mid/high speakers, in a 2 way design. 1 mid, 1 tweeter. 1 woofer.

I posted a photo of the capacitor, only 1 for these speakers.

Can someone help me identify these as "original", and what I should look at for replacements? I sure there are numbers associated with these capacitors, and I assume a new one with the same specs is the right approach???

I can update with better photos after removal of these, if it is even necessary. I want to make the right decisions.

Help please, and suggestions.

You are correct in that there will be numerals on the original cap, next time you're in there use a magnifying glass to get a closer look, write down what you see and let us know and we'll point you in the right direction with regards to replacement.

I finally got around to opening the Speakers and taking better photos of the capacitors. See attached photos below.

First, are these electrolytic caps? 5MFD 50VAC

Second, what do you suggest I use for replacement? Dayton Film Caps from Parts Express?

Third, is there polarity associated with capacitors? This cap does not seem to show + -...?

I assume they would sound better with fresh caps, but also help protect the tweeters long term from the low frequencies?

change one speaker then compare them side by side with a mono record

As to Dayton's specifically I have no experience with them so hopefully others will chime in who do
