The good old days

I watched all of them...Good stuff. All of the gear I want when it was NEW. I remember the PL-518 commercial with Burgess Meredith. That was my first turntable with an empire 2000 cartridge. Strange how they devote a whole commercial to just one particular piece of gear. Thank you for sharing.
 
I remember that 1970s G.I. Joe commercial, however I had forgotten that the opening shot looked like a Bear Bar on the Castro. LOL
 
Yeah, it's an odd ad as well. Hey, come buy a turntable from us because we will fix it when it catches on fire! Only the highest quality components from us!

Yeah I thought the exact same thing. In fact after he said that, I had no idea where it was going from there.

That was the second commercial I saw on this thread that mentioned the "in house repair shop" Funny that you no longer see that. But then again todays gear is not meant to last long, and probably not as fixable.

Sad note ....I am here because I went to watch Monday night football, and when I hit the power button ...nothing. I watched tv last night no problems. I thought maybe it was just the remote control, but the TV's power button didn't work either. It is a Toshiba CX27D60 and had a beautiful picture. Strange that it would go out like that.
 
Thanks Cool_Manchu for links to commercials. I checked out the Yamaha audio one to find the guy is playing a YP-800 TT, the model I own. It was great to see advertised for the first time, 32yrs later.:thmbsp:
