vintage Fisher Speaker please identify

I have older 30 Watt Fisher speakers -24 x 13 x 9 labeled with a small plate "Fisher 30 watt". Interesting is there are 2 rather large speakers and one small one. No serial/model number on paper label; speaker connection is via screw terminals.
I would appreciate knowing the year these were made. Cabinet is vinyl covered, front cloth doesn't appear to come off. I have searched the internet and not seen any of these anywhere.

Those were part of a rack system from around 1984. I used to have to Fisher catalog from that year. Been looking for it off and on for years.

I'm using a pair of big Fisher STV-430Ms. They are contact paper over particle board. I think they were overgrown monstrosities made to go with early big AV systems. The components aren't bad, but aren't balanced. I usually have to turn the bass down to about -4 - -6 to keep them from being too boomey. They have 15" woofers. What I do now is stack some smaller slightly more efficient speakers on top of them. They steal more than half of the signal, but when the signal is more bass rich, or needs something else the Fishers can fill in, they are right there. I can run the tone controls flat. The pairing is actually the best speakers I've had. It's like a giant 6-way speaker on each side.

I picked up 2 pairs of Fisher "STV-" speakers for free from CL, a pair of STV-724 about 4" shorter then a taller pair of STV-889As.

You can tell that despite supposedly being US-made in Cali - these are of the multi-driver/multi-port go-big or go-home Japanese speaker style like an 80's vintage Sanyo, Sansui, or Pioneer.

I use them against a borrowed Onkyo AVR, and can adjust the bass down and treble up to bring them to life. They sound better elevated about 8" up off the floor.

You don't listen to these with a cup of tea and pinky extended while watching Downsyndrom Abbey, but rather to rowdy rock - perfect to keep your mind occupied when on the treadmill or Schwinn exerbike and you don't want to hear that.

I'm beyond the Ford vs Chevy purse-fight - as others said; if you like the sound, more power to you. For the price I paid, we do.

That's what I was thinking. Those look very-similar to my very-first pair of speakers back in like '78-'79. I remember the highs being kinda' dull. Not rolled-off. Just dull. I wouldn't mind a pair of their early to mid '60's speakers though. Those are more in line with what I have now (Plus, I have an 800C receiver that must surely make Fisher speakers sound good).

I sold fisher systems from 1981-85 and IIRC these are all from that era. At this time Fisher was owned and made by Sanyo. Low end audio at its worst.

Explains the Sanyo look of the STVs. Both of mine seem identical to pics I've seen of Sanyo speakers and are nearly identical to each other 'cept for the slight difference in heights.

Not sure these are for the Celtic Women fans, but would be great frat-house party boxes.

Got a whole rack of Fisher gear for free too, couple wanted it hauled away. The TT needs a new belt and stylus, half the dual deck works, and the 5-CD changer needs new belts. Pretty lights and an FM receiver with pre-sets to surf horrible Pittsburgh FM stations.
