Vintage Grundig console speakers need help

A friend picked up a minty 68' console with at least three speakers on each side.
The woofers are either not working or paper cone is torn and buzzing.
Should he try to have them rebuilt, , or put modern replacement speakers for functionality now and deal with keeping it period correct later?
If rebuilding, can anyone recommend a repair house that does Grundig?
If replacing,which is best supply house for new Grundig or Grundig style speakers for an old sole?

Rebuilding old console speakers is probably not a viable option due to cost. Replacement speakers from gutted old consoles can often be found on eBay but it might also not be cheap if bought piecemeal.

I would suggest looking maybe on Craigslist for old Telefunken or similar speakers in enclosures. All the better if the box is ugly so it can be had inexpensively and transplanted into the console.
