I foolishly removed All the Kimsul from my Bozak 305 - threw into a garbage can and then proceded to add beer bottles and shop dust to the mix. I then read that Kimsul is NOT asbestos and IS very very good speaker acoustic insulation.

So there is a remedy...pull out the beer soaked Kimsul or.... bite bullet and shell out for the product above which looks to be the EXACT same stuff. The nice thing about it is - it does not cause driver metal to react like the rockwool type stuffing I have seen.

Never used Bozaks or Adcom but....might want to try a different amp to see what happens.

Reason I say is because I have some Carver M1.0ts and EV cornerhorns (very large). They don't match up very well. No bass, even when cranked. Used a tubed Magnavox 8802 (10WPC) on the EVs and bass in spades.

The Carvers are great when driven into less efficient speakers. But with high efficiency, not so much. Perhaps your Adcom is doing the same? Drive a lower powered amp within its full output range on high effieciency speakers.

Just a thought.

I removed all the stuffing and temporarily sealed them with some old weather stripping I found on top of a duct in the basement, and lo and behold, we have bass. No advice about going back and optimizing the cabinets necessary because as I said, these drivers are not staying with me. Just thought I'd let everyone know they do work fine, as it turns out. That's one point for simulation software, because I never would've believed the difference would be so significant without it.

The b 199 a suspensions were resin/cloth and will outlive us all with care. They were limited-excursion by design edgewound aluminum voicecoils and some of the fastest and low-coloration 12" units made- lo 90s sensitivity and marvelous..compare to Western Electric 728bs. Google Bozak open baffle for an eye-opener.
