Yeah...but I agree he is a bit high in his pricing.

I'm not sure, but here in Iowa, I think there are fewer people willing to pay top dollar for audio than in large metropolitan areas.

Making it harder for this seller to actually sell. Most of those items, he's been trying to sell for over a year, at least. Maybe longer.

I think he doesn't need the cash, and so is willing to sit on it until he gets his price.

The Klipsch, he's just added.

I talked to this gent on the phone (I believe its the same seller) quite some time back. He seems to be a nice guy but like you guys say, I think his prices are high and he isn't really willing to come down on them.

Yep, I've e-mailed with him a few times. He's courteous and does respond quickly, but I think the prices are indeed firm, and high. May do some business with him down the road on some B&O cartridges though, we'll see. He must have quite a lot of storage space, and/or a patient spouse...

FWIW the Klipsch Heresy pair formerly owned by Waylon Jennings have been on Phoenix CL for a while at $1000 (no affiliation). $200 for an AR turntable (presumably the old version) is also silly.

Many of his pieces have been on Clist for months. His prices are just too high (sometimes double) for the little demand that is out there in Iowa.

Yes, I agree with you guys on the prices, but I try not to complain about prices people ask, it's their business, not mine.

However, I can promise that that Marantz 6300 won't sell locally for $850. Never. Not going to happen.

And I got a NICER set of HeresyII's (and mine are KP-201's) locally for $400. So, I'm going to say those Heresy's II's aren't going to sell locally at $1000.

I hadn't thought about it, someone in this thread said he's just trying to show off. Maybe that's right.

There is something to be said about really clean and serviceable gear. It should comand a premium how much that is seems to be the problem.

CL in Central Iowa is pretty awful for audio - it's either very low end that makes average 80s BPC look good, or this kind of stuff or even higher occasionally. Almost nothing mid-range. (There was a nice NAD amp/pre combo the other day that sold in about 4 hours, he was only asking $100, but it was early 80s gear; I am still trying to find a NAD pre, but a more recent one.) I did get a really nice set of Advent 5002s for $75 once, and a good condition Nak CD-2A cd deck for $15. Slim pickings, both on CL and at the thrifts, for the most part.

Most likely moving back to Iowa within the next 6 months...not looking forward to this part of it! It's home, though. Asheville Craigslist is okay, there's almost always "something" worthwhile here...nothing like the big cities though, especially the Northeast and California, it seems.

There are occasional gems among the cornfields here in Iowa. although, there seems to be long droughts between finding one then another.
Over the past few years
I've picked up Advents OLA/smaller OA for between $20 and $40
Klipsch Heresy's with poor finish for $5
Infinity Q Jr (needed work for $20)
several Boston Acoustic A (60/70/150) for between $0 and $20
JBL L19 for $40

Electronic gear is a bit harder to find than speakers (often needing re-foaming)
(especially since I can repair most speakers but don't do electronics)

I check thrift stores about once every week or two
and garage sales when the season comes
C-listers generally ask too much or the stuff sells in minutes
