Vintage Magnavox bookshelf questions

I've recently acquired a pair of Magnavox S-8753's as part of a bulk electronics purchase. It could be a score. I'm not sure of the value. They have a 16 ohm 8" woof with alnico magnets, but the original paper 3.5" tweets have been replaced with some vintage Radio Shack 40-1276B domes, which are 8ohm. Magnavox speaker is rated at 8 ohm overalI believe the original tweets would also be 16 ohm, wired in parallel to make 8 ohm. However, it looks like Magnavox has it wired in series (see photos). Am I looking at it wrong? I'm guess that I have to be. Perhaps it IS parallel wiring since it's the woof is only a single coil? Please advise. Also, I have measured the woofer alone at 16 ohm, but the woof and tweet together measured at 8 ohm. If you parallel a 16 and 8 ohm speaker together, wouldn't it make a 6 ohm load? BTW, yes, I'm aware that whoever replaced these tweets actually left the original 2uf cap AND the 3.3uf cap in series with each other. Lol. Also, the cap on the woof is only 2uf and it's HUGE. What's up with that?

I'm not all that impressed with the Radio Shack tweeter. I would also appreciate any suggestions on what to replace them with. I'm going for a warm vintage tone. So far, I have 2 candidates: 1. A pair of used 16 ohm Magnavox tweeters on ebay (photo 4). However, they have much smaller magnets than the original tweets (photo 5), but they are the same size. 2. I had a nice pair of those several years ago. A very nice lady practically paid me to take them at her garage sale. I thought they sounded fine with a low watt receiver, and the cabinet build quality was solid. If you’re looking to replace drivers, you’ll have to be sure to build a proper crossover. If you stick random drivers in the cabinet and expect them to sound better, that’s probably not going to work. Hopefully someone with more knowledge of crossovers and cabinet dynamics will chime in. I think they could sound really nice with the correct components for the cabinets. Good luck.
