Hello All,
I sourced a second hand pair of HPM-40's to run with my SX-780. I have read around the forums some and following advice, replaced the capacitor in the speaker crossover unit and used DeOxit multiple times on the pot (BTW no obvious way to get the solvent in - took the control knob off and used that angle and also used a couple of the vent holoe? on top of the pot).
Still have the problem in that the speaker is mute on power up with source input. After the relay clicks in, nada.
But if I give the speaker moderate volume, or give it a friendly thump on the back near the input terminals, it comes to life. Once it comes to life it stays up and appears to act normally, but on next power up, the same nada sound initially. Other speaker is fine, problem is in the one speaker (have swapped L/R and problem stays in same speaker).
After all this and gentle poking around on the crossover board while playing music to see if any loose connections can be found, still no luck finding one and problem persists.
