Ahoy All,

First time poster here. Disclaimer: I'm a video head whose knowledge of audio hardware is sadly pretty perthetic. As such hoping for some sonic wisdom please...

So. I recently came across a pair of absolutely enchanted cabs in a thrift shop - a total score:

Opening them up revealed their guts to consist of a Pioneer PAX-30G:

Questions:
1. What type of amplifier would you use to drive these things?
2. Is it even worth it?
3. If so, would a Yamaha AVC-50 do the job? (Craigslist)

Thanks in advance peoples.

Very nice! For maximum sonic pleasure, I recommend using low power tube amplification. 3W will be plenty in a moderate size room if those drivers are loaded in the proper boxes. If you can DIY, try this.

Good luck and happy listening!

First off welcome to audiokarma .i will say those speaker cabinets have to be the most ornate cabinets I've ever seen.i have a pair of ornate style speaker cabinets that came with similar drivers but are celestions.
For amplication you can try them out with what you have on hand for your av setup or any other amp you may have on hand.i will state though that these are low wattage speaker so you cant crank them up or you will blow them.As stated above a good low power tube amp would be ideal but not necessary..
fwiw heres a picture of my ordanite speaker cabs loaed with my celestions.
heres my thread when i got mine.

Those cabinets have Solid wood, hand carved figures. If real could be very old antique Furniture or a vintage display,
worth way more than the speakers. Definitely repurposed into speakers.

Wowza banowza - thanks guys all for you input and replies! My notifications ended up in my promotions folder, so had no idea you'd all been chucking your two cents into the magic hat. Super grateful!
So much helpful information.
Will take some more shots now.

Thankyou, it's great to be here - what a dope community!
Your reply helps me understand where I can start without damaging them, I'll see what I can get my hands on and give them a go :)
Yours orante units look epic, speakers as furniture is such a rad idea - feels like there's so much stroy looked up inside them.

Seasons blessings all, will post updates when I get something to drive them.

Those are certainly um, unique.
Can't say as though I've ever seen speaker cabinets like those before.
