Vintage receiver grounding

lreice

Puppet, Pauper, Pirate, Poet, Pawn, and King,
hey all, first post. Had a Dual 1019 connected to an HK 75+ receiver with no noticeable issues. Had rhe 1019 serviced and new connectors were put in eliminating the ground. I experienced a hum when reconnecting that drove me crazy, but put up with it...it was minimized when I sat the TT on the receiver. I’ve since got a Rega P2 and connected to the same amp get a hum when I have volume up about halfway. Not very noticeable, but annoying to me a bit. I,m going to throw another vintage receiver in just to see.

My question is, when combining vintage gear with modern gear could I improve the system by attaching something to the ground connection on the vintage receiver?

find some metal on the back of the turn table and run a wire from there to the grnd on the amp
i have had good luck with a cheater wire for trial
a thin wire under the white rca cable outter connection so the wire is pinched in place
run that to gnd on the amp .. see if it improves your problem

Excellent idea...I’ll try it...thanks much

Hi when your guy eliminated the ground he installed the problem you need a good ground from the chassis for quiet use
I think I may have to resolder a wire back onto the dual. I’m trying to sell that though. My new Riga doesn’t have a ground but I’m going to try what orsen recommended.

Also try try flipping the AC plugs around.
In some cases one lead of the AC line is tied to the chassis through a very high (megohm) resistor.

Any luck?
