Vintage receiver UNDER 17 1/2 inches wide?

Hello again all.

I posted the other day about picking up a receiver to power to my new HPM-100's - http://www.audiokarma.org/forums/showthread.php?t=496683 - and I got some awesome suggestions and advice.

I posted in Bartertown and pickup up a Realistic STA-2000D from another member which I love, sounds great and will be a fixture in my basement jamming setup but I'd like to also get something to put with my main stereo system.

The problem is the shelves are only 17 1/2 inches wide and the Realistic, like most of the other Pioneers, etc that I am seeing are 18 inches+.

Can anyone throw out some mid-late 70's solid state receivers that are under 17.5" wide?

I think most receivers were 17" or less by then, at least those that didn't get involved in the power wars. That was pretty much for standard rack mounting, which was en vogue at the time. Only a few overly powerful (for the age) or quad units were larger.

Interesting, I must be looking at all power-wars participants. Thanks for the info.
 
I think most 70's receivers are going to be to wide,my pioneer SX-780 is about 19'' and my Onkyo TX-2500 is at least that wide ,neither are power houses.
You might have to go with separates,my Pioneer QA-800A (amp) is only 17''.So are the SA-7100-8100-9100.
 
Don't know if 17.5" is an exact figure or you have a bit of play, but the Sansui Eight/Eight Deluxe is 17 5/8". :). Very close and a great receiver!
 
The SX-580 is listed at 435 mm,which is (about) 17 1/8 ''going by the converter i used.(17.126 in.)

It is a hard 17 1/2", unfortunately.

So I guess I'd really be smart to go just at or under 17" to leave some room for air circulation.
 
Can't find the measurements but the Marantz 2015/2010 are close to that IIRC.


It will fit into a WC-10 cabinet so around 14 1/2 X 4 3/4 or so.

Pioneer SX-700T, one of the very first SS receivers made by Pioneer, measures 16" wide without the wood side skirts, and about 16 5/8" wide with the wood sides mounted! I picked up a mint one on fleabay a couple months ago - reasonable, and very nice sounding.
 
My Marantz 2270 comes in at 17.25 wide. Same for a 2252b which is a newer generation. You should be safe with most 22xx's that are not in wood cabinets.

The 17.25 was the faceplate width. The chassis will be smaller, probably 17 or a tiny less. Cant measure it because mine is in the wood.

Almost all the Marantz 22 Series are under 17½" wide, including the 2285 (85 WPC).

I'm sure there are others, too.
