Vintage Sony speaker model inquiry, what are these?

Hello,
Went and looked at these today, Not sure which model they are, labels are gone but these are smaller speakers. Take a look at the driver specs in the pic. , may help. Are they any good? Seemed awful light

they look pretty low end, unless they're really heavy i'd pass.

I guess the SS-188 was a little smaller version with flat edges, these are not that model.

$60 seems a little pricey. Did you listen to the speakers?

I sure didn’t , I was looking at something else he had. A guy out there on eBay has a set but his labels are gone too lol. I’m thinking they might be part of the SS line

The RCA plug alternative to screw terminals doesn't increase one's confidence that these are likely to be outstanding. That's not a general rule, just a clue...

I’ve had a few vintage speakers from Sony. My recommendation is, check the weight. If it is heavy give them a shot! Sometimes they are picky about the amp they are hooked up to, but when you find the right match, they should sound very nice. I matched a small pair from an all in one system they sold in the early 70s to a Sansui AU-5500, and they were gorgeous! Sound was quite impressive!
