vintage vs modern capacitor hole spacing

I ordered new capacitors for my circa 1980 JVC but the holes do not match. I believe these are the power capacitors (1" diameter 35v 6800mf). the board hole spacing is about 12 mm but the spacing on the capacitor is 10mm. I have not been able to find a capacitor with 12mm spacing. I asked a stereo repair shop and they suggested either drilling new holes or using silicone under the capacitor. I would rather use silicone if this is a reasonable option. Even better if I knew of a source with proper spacing.
It looks like one or both capacitors have leaked

That is 99.9999746% a glue issue not leaking but changing em isn't a problem. The rest of that, the .0000254% is the chance it is a leaking cap. Don't forget to get that glue cleaned up when you replace the caps. Check for corrosion on the leads and the jumpers that are covered in the goop. Sometimes the glue is corrosive and can eat away at the metals. Might need to change another component or two unless the lead is still good and solid and you can clean it up nicely.

For most caps, they do not want the legs to be bent more than 30° from the entry into the seal. Not a problem with most at less than that keeping the seal intact. If the cap is heavy and off the board a ways a dab of silicone RTV would be fine to hold the cap in place. If it is not very heavy the cap might support itself just fine even through rough shipping handling.

Digikey has filters for lead spacing, Mouser doesn't. Its very handy when you need a very specific physical property in a cap.

?? I actually find Mouser much easier to search, and they also have a capacitor 'lead spacing' filter.

I initially went there and it didn't give me any options for lead spacing. Maybe that shows up only after you apply other filters? dunno.
