(1968, RCA Victor) 1968 pressing w/ black label & dog on top
looking through duplicates, this one begged to be VPI'd and played; took the Manley tube amp out of Triode mode for the extra juice to enjoy the Jack Casady bass playing.
:thmbsp::thmbsp: I believe we had this discussion before a couple of months back, but that is my favorite Jefferson Airplane album, and total agreement on Jack Casady's bass on that album - especially the tunes "In Time" and "Crown Of Creation".

...and the stills from Fritz Lang's expressionist SciFi masterpiece, Metropolis, make the album art cooler than cool IMHO.

Nice, I bet that's a lively record on the CTI label. I've enjoyed all the Airto LPs I've run across, hope to see that one.
There's alot to like in the airplane catalog but this one is way up there for me also. I like the live version of Crown Of Creation on 30 Seconds Over Winterland, with Grace's liberties with the lyrics, and Jack's thundering bass in evidence of course. :thmbsp:

The infamous "I can't either..." aside she sardonically threw in following the "In loyalty to their kind, they cannot tolerate our minds" line.
I really need to dig that one out of the vault and give it a spin, it's been quite a few years since I played it.As for the Airto, it is a workout - though it has its quieter moments as well. Fora Purim has a couple of lovely turns as the vocalist. Another Rudy Van Gelder recording, it seemed a bit bass shy this spin. I think I might need to check my cartridge alignment and tracking weight settings. The Grado has only been in service since August, but I have spun a lot of records under it since then.

Another one from the dupe pile to grade - it cleaned up well and plays great. I played disk one "a boquet of ear catching melodies" - love the studio tricks Intro track on side 2. As AllMusic puts it: "a kaleidoscopic odyssey through the mind of an insanely gifted pop music obsessive." Todd is god. (sorry about the crappy pictures - my main camera, a 12+ year old Kodak DC280, is finally giving up the ghost).
