VOIP setup for paging system to a warehouse horn

Hello,

I am new and just looking for some general advice/information. Hopefully this is ok to post here.

I am being tasked with setting up a paging system. There is already a horn in the warehouse, and it is a Valcom 1030C.
We have a GoTo VOIP system and I have added a line called paging and assigned to a Cisco ATA 191 adaptor..
The idea is, pick up the phone, press the paging line and say what you need to the warehouse.
We have a Bogen C100 amp. Typically, have used the Cisco ATA for faxes or other things that need converted. I think it can be used in this setting as well.
So, the ATA adaptor plugs into the network, and it has an RJ11 that would go to the Bogen C100. Then the Bogen goes to the horn/speaker in the warehouse.
My question is, does this make sense or am I missing something? Also, the RJ11 has 4 wires but the Bogen C100 only has 2 screw downs and a ground. So not sure how that would connect.

The place I work at has something along those lines. Couldn't tell you the specific items without going to look but the VOIP has another box wired to it that interfaces with the Bogen amp. Probably similar to or identical to the Cisco ATA. Its just 2 wires running from whatever the adapter box is to the Bogen amp.

RJ-11 jacks have 4 wires, but its typically set up as 2 pairs so you're probably using the middle two pins only as output. Guessing you'd use the + and - for input and leave the ground open.

IIRC green and red is "line 1" on RJ 11

I manage a goto phone PBX at work.

One of my recent tasks was adding 4 paging speakers to our existing 6 that I was assisted in setting up by our goto (formerly jive) rep.

It can get pretty involved.

One thing that I could not do on my own, that required the rep, is assign a unique SIP paging address.
Without that, a speaker won't respond to a page initiation.
This is not clearly spelled out in the goto documentation or any speaker MFG documentation I've seen.
Additionally, the contact procedure for goto support has changed and now requires you to make a call and wait in what can be an inordinately long queue.
Our rep had moved on, and the replacement declined to assist me via email.
I got lucky and simply copied the SIP addresses of one of our existing, working speakers.
I know that was not the "right" way to do it, but our setup is very simple and is all one paging zone, and it got it working.

Also, you lose a "line" speed dial function button on the phones you will be initiating pages from.
That button must be configured for the page group your speakers are in.

yeah the box ends up with what amounts to an extension, and the "page" function on the phone dials it.

The tricky part with that, you can push buttons in the wrong order and transfer phone calls into your paging system and have no way of getting them out. We did that with a customer once, someone had to call them on another number to ask them to hang up on their end.

BTW- copy and paste of that SIP address didn't work, I had to back up the config of a working speaker, and restore it to a new speaker, while also changing the IP address (ours are hard coded) Not an issue if yours are DHCP.
