A couple of years back, you could see the results via a poll online, at least after the top 5 were selected. However, it didn't work out well at all. People were registering on the site just to vote for particular members. There were underground attempts via PM to push agendas, it was a bit of a mess in the end. I don't believe total vote counts have ever been published before or since.
 
When the votes are counted and a winner is announced, after the contest, is everyone going to reveal who they voted for and why? That would be better than a simple popularity contest in my opinion.
 
There will be an announcement of the winner, and a list of "Honourable Mentions", those who were also selected for this singular recognition.

We don't publish the individual vote counts. If I get comments in the emails, I usually include those.
 
I asked, because I know there are many people who deserve this recognition. I thought it would be nice to let them know that they are appreciated as well, even if they did not get the top slot.
 
After thinking about this, I can see how it could become a mess. Maybe abetter idea would be just to have the moderators emial the nominated folks and let them know they were considered for the position.

You are absolutely correct, and that's exactly why I list the names of those who were considered worthy of the honour. They deserve their own moment of public recognition.
