VU meter not working after Power Amp

Hi people…
I own CA-810 Yamaha and i tried to connect power amp to this amplifier. Using back panel PRE OUT. After everything been connected ….sounds good, but VU meters are not working! I tried using just Yam amp itself and VU meters works just fine. Is there a way to add Power Amp and having needles to work?
My setup: Yamaha CA-810, Sansui EQ SE-77 and (power amp Kenwood KM-209).

Long answer---------- Yes .. Your going to need a Y-adapter cable. Plug it into the 810 pre-out jack -- One set needs to go to your Kenwood. The other into your 810's main - in jack. Meters will work with or without speakers connected to the CA-810.

I think you right! I had that thought as well. It’s basically dividing unit into two functions. Local and external processes.
 
Hmmmmm? The speaker load will be on the added external power amp. How can the Yamaha Meters calibrated to "W/8 Ohms" be correct?
 
One Female RCA to two Male RCA will work easily

Male to preamp ouput on CA
Male to power amp input on CA

RCA cable from Female to external Power Amp

Well that is what they are even when using an 8Ω load on the CA. Fun, good for some diagnostics, but not Fluke measurement capable.
 
Ok. Cool ! I will try yours recommendation.
Just wandering why I can not use the set I got? 3 way Mercedes type adapters.
