W K R P in Cincinnati

My favorite episode was the first. Lots of other episodes that are great. One of my favorites was when Venus helped the station's female cleaning lady who's son was going down the wrong path. Venus' explanation of the atom was a classic, and to this day this is how I remember it. The "Pros"(protons) vs. the "New Boys"(neutrons). Another was were Venus would not do the promos with pictures, as he was technically a deserter from the Army. Mr.Carlson stepped up to bat in that episode.

I don't remember the details, but there was an episode with Hamilton Camp as a slimy stereo salesman. I think he and one of the main characters (can't remember which one - maybe Johnny Fever) were being held hostage by a crazed gunman during a remote broadcast. Not my favorite episode, but it does directly relate to the subject of this forum (stereo, not the slime - but feel free to disagree).

WKRP was a GREAT show. It was, and always will be, one of my favorite TV shows. I will have to catch a airing of The Great Turkey Drop that is, no doubt, going to appear sometime soon.

I am going to ask Santa for that boxed set.

Johnny Fever - "Speed kills, Del"

One of my all time favorite TV shows as well. My favorite episode was when they were doing a "demo" of the effects of too much booze on ability. During their broadcast both Venus and Johnnie Fever would be given a shot. Venus got bombed and Fever seemed to become more sober.

One of my favorites was when certain songs were considered offensive and Mr Carlson's defense was "Imagine" by John Lennon .

The show was funny but was smart and had heart as well .

I remember the episode. A bit of a shocker then. Agree doubt it would never be made in today's hyper sensitive environment.

Lots of classic lines in WKRP. :D I still watch it regularly, having found a set of the broadcasts through some rather *ahem* questionable means. ;)

"I guess Carlson rubs it on his feet." That was in the payola episode, when Johnny left KRP and his replacement was on the take.

I'm a Bailey guy myself, but Jennifer was quite delicious in her role also. Despite looking like the dumb blonde bombshell, she was arguably the one who knew the most at the station. And that's aside from covering for Carlson as he sat in his office playing "rocket ship" with his set of desk pens. :D

Great cast all around. A shame that kind of humor is lost on today's typical sitcom audience.

Herb: "...Grab a little gusto."
Jennifer: "I don't like small gustos."

Who could ever forget Rip Tide....

After you watched several episodes in a row, do you catch yourself saying "Woooaa-Kay Fine" or "No problem-oh" ?

And who could forget "Red Wiggler, the Cadillac of worms"?
The guy who owned Red Wiggler Worms on the TV show played a fisherman at the beginning of Godzilla(1998) when Godzilla came ashore in NYC.

WKRP is terrific. I watch it every Sunday night on AntennaTV.
Trivia: it is the only TV series that has a different opening and closing theme song. The closing song music was written and sung with gibberish, waiting for words to be written, but never were.
