Wald Sound Model 800C... Anyone know what these are?

First time poster here! Been collecting records for about 15 years now, but just recently got into the speaker/gear side of things so if anyone could help me out here that'd be awesome.

Was out hunting for equipment this morning and found an old vintage pair of speakers, "Wald Model 800C", at a garage sale and paid 20 bucks for them after briefly glancing at the specs and seeing the all caps words "HI FIDELITY". The seller was an old man trying to clear out his garage and he told me he found them on google and they were made in California in the 70s, so I thought I'd be able to find the same info but I can't.

I thought maybe I had hit the jackpot here and was so stoked to try them out, but unfortunately they sound horrible. Basically no low end and they're not very clear at all compared to my Polk 4As. Maybe they're damaged, I'm doing something wrong, or they just totally suck.

I'm not super familiar with speaker specs outside ohms and impedance so if someone who is more knowledgeable than me could take a look at the attached picture and let me know if these things are treasure or trash that'd be awesome. I'm also running them through my Denon DRA 75VR.
EDIT: Realized after inspection the pos/neg posts are opposite of all my other speakers and after rewiring they sound... no different.

"Wald Sound was a private label manufacturer of speakers, in Sun Valley, CA. ... At one point they may have been the largest manufacturer of speakers in the country, almost all of which were sold under other names. When I was employed there we manufactured for Sharp, Pacific Stereo, Federated Group, and under many brand names. After some famous old historic audio names folded, Wald cleverly purchased the names, including KLH and Advent. The speakers marketed by Wald had little or no relation to the original KLH or Advent speakers."

The description above is very accurate which from a former employee makes perfect sense! (lol) Wald used really low cost drivers in their name brand speakers so the fact they sound bad is to be expected. Even when new Wald speakers didn't even sound good enough for garage speaker duty.

On the other hand the cabinets might be decent and if so would make for good frankenspeaker projects just for the fun of it.

Even the description of the cabinet is misleading. "Genuine walnut cabinet" ? Not unless the particle board is walnut like the veneer.

Exactly what I was thinking. Thanks for the responses, guys! These are probably just going in the trash. Would hate to have someone at a thrift store also think they've picked up something worth any money at all.
