Walker CJ-58 springs

I recently purchased a Music and Sound Imports version of this (CJ-58) all wood turntable. It was missing a spring. I have some AR spring left overs Along with grommets hardware. Will one of these work for the spring closest to the platter bearing? It looks as if two lengths of spring are needed. I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of construction although this has a vinyl covered top.

A year later and I’ve found myself in similar territory with the same table. I’ve got some Thorens 160 springs and maybe some XA type laying around here. I’m going to light a candle and commence to experiment. It seems factory support 40 years on doesn’t exist. And not too many hobbyists even know - or care - what this thread is about.

I used the two stock springs and ordered springs from McMaster-Carr that fit the bottom and articulates with sub chassis, but had to cobble together the bushing from nylon stand offs for the top. Thanks Ace Hdw. I got the suspension to level and bounce and fitted a new Jelco tonearm. I believe it is a very capable turntable, really extracts the sound out of the groove. Also replaced all caps in the power supply.
