Want advice on powering jbl l40

Hello,

got some jbl l40 (35w) and am looking to get a NAD 7240 PE reciever which is rated at 40 watts, but have read that is a conservative rating and is much more powerful.

I will be listening to records, cassettes, reel to reel, CD, MP3, and using as monitors for musical home recordings.

Wanted to know if the NAD is enough power for the JBL L40.

Thanks for any help.

Depends on your listening room size, musical preferences, and how loud you like it. Forty watts sounds like a good ballpark to start in. NAD amps have that nice "soft clipping" feature. If you're not driving it hard, you can crispen up the sound by turning it off.

Thanks for your reply! Listening in a small room mostly as i am an apt dweller>or descent sized living room. I listen to many different types of music- classical, jazz, rock, avant garde--experimental, drone, hip-hop, and so on. I won't be listening super loud at all times but would like to turn them up from time to time. Just want to make sure i have enough headroom with this amp as a lot of music i listen to goes from soft to bursts of sound.
