Wanted: NHT ac2 tweeters or suitable replacement

Need some NHT 11-050-1 tweeters for repairs. Variant of SEAS 25 TAFN neodymium with small outer bezel step for rear mounting. As used in AC1/2 centers and later VT/VC/VR series speakers. Also used in JH's VR3 clone kits and I believe many were sold at the great NHT surplus sales.

Any assistance or advice on suitable replacements gratefully received.

Welcome to AK! It's a nice place to be. Also, your post is fine here. It's in the correct forum.

As to NHT tweeters; like most needing vintage parts, a best suggestion would be to keep an eye on eBay. They do pop up from time to time. There's even a very similar tweeter pair there now. But, they have a different face plate. I'm not sure if they could be modded to fit your speakers, or not? They look like they could be disassembled, so maybe they could be made to work!

Good luck!

Thank you Stimpy.

Have been watching the Bay in hope. Unfortunately nothing for a month or so. Similar tweeter with the "egg-shaped" bezel are from later S and Classic lines and are I think a far eastern sourced part (location of currently advertised pair tends to confirm that). Trying to bottom out whether they are a good voice/impedance match for the Seas originals or just cosmetically similar for marketing continuity. I'm a pretty able machinist and can make any bezel mods pretty easily. Target though is to get this old AC2 singing to the best of its abilities to try some Trifield and full multi-channel mixing ideas with my beloved tweeked 2.9s.

Best regards to Ren :)

Ren says Hi! :rflmao:

Now, your tweeters. The original NHT founder is Ken Kantor. Ken is a member here at AK. A very nice (and humble) guy too. :) If I were you, I'd PM Ken, and ask if he would know of a source of your tweeter. It can't hurt.

Trifield with your AC2 and 2.9s. I'm a huge NHT fan too, and owner, and that should be Awesome. You should get a SST Trinaural processor. One of Jim Bongiorno's last designs. It's great for adding spacial qualities, using embedded cue's in the stereo mix, to a 2 channel system. The processor won a Best of CES award. It's good.
