wanted: owner of celestion 15xr

i have just come into ownership of a pair of Celestion UL8 speakers (see picture below). they are near identical to the 15xr but originally cost something in the order of 40% more, besides which they are much rarer and there is nothing on the internet explaining the difference.

there is someone claiming the celestion UL8 are inferior to the celestion ditton 15xr as "ditton was celestions flagship range" however this is total nonsense, i wish to set the record straight.

therefore i seek a celestion ditton 15xr owner willing to take detailed pictures of their speakers drive units, construction and crossover so i can provide a detailed comparison with my UL8s on build quality, finish etc.

The picture you have posted does not show the UL series I remember from the late 70's. To my fading memory they were a horizontal bookshelf speaker with a offset between the woofers tweeter. The others were for vertical installation on stands.

you refer to the UL6, there is also a UL10 with a hf2000 tweeter and dome midrange

yes, so a VERY similar driver set up to the celestion 15xr, they also have very similar proportions, what iam looking for is someone with the 15xr to take pictures of the crossover/rear of the mid bass etc to compare in a thread to the UL8.

i will make this clear, there was a massive price difference between the two (they were available at the same time) and outward appearance alone suggests the UL8 was more expensive if only for the real wood veneer (i recall the 15xr uses plastic fantastic wrap).
 
While not the XR i have pics of the ditton 15 in my sig(under the flickr link) And pics of the woofer and the passive as well.

Very impressive speakers. Rival most well made speakers.

Hi I realise this is a very old thread but did you ever get the information you asked for ? I'm a bit of a Celestion nut and have Ditton 15's, 15XR's DL4 and DL8's my grandson has Ditton 44's.
Do you still need info ?
