Warfedale W70s, any idea what this mod is for?????

Hi All,

These W70s I picked up have three jacks installed and wired into the cross-over (see the pics.) Any idea what this was for? Supposedly these belonged to one of the Hollywood Bowl sound guys. So it might be interesting to figure out why.

Hey,

The crossover picture is kinda small, I can't see anything. But if I had to hazard a guess, I would say it might be to bi-amplify them. A huge guess on my part.

I don't. I use a different way of displaying images on this web site.

Is it large on your computer, then when you upload them here it downsizes them into a thumbnail?

Dang! Well, that's not cool.

Have you tested them yet? That's what I'd do, then you'd know for sure what everything is for. If they sound fine through the original binding posts, I'd leave it at that.

They do sound good. I have been driving them with one of those little Dayton T-amps. Strange mix of old and new to be playing Pandora on an old cell phone and then through an amp that runs on 8 AAs. I bought them thinking I would use the cabinets for another project. But since they are in good shape it seems like a reprieve is in order. I'll give them a once over with the Howards and try and find them a good home among family and friends.

Or, me. Heh. I would move alone and enjoy, don't give the extra jacks a second thought. At some point in the future if you just can't bare it, you can sleuth it out.

As you've probably read, they come alive with tube power. That's when you get an epiphany, oh yeah.
