Washington AKer Should Save These Quantums!

Nice pair of Infinity Quantum 2s in Washington, the owner is parting them out unless someone local will buy them complete. I'm sure some Washington AKer would be able to give these a good home:

I'm not in Washington but I would just hate to see these broken up and so emailed the seller as to price, as I hadn't seen the above yet, and whether or not he could deliver them to one of my company's warehouses in Seattle so I could have some time to figure out how to get them down here; here being the San Francisco Bay area. It's probably a long shot and I don't have a problem if someone else gets them because my wife would kill me if she knew I was even considering this anyway and I can't really even use them right now - I just hate the idea of a pair of Q2's in such good condition being broken up. And if it does work out and I can get them I'll just have some scrambling to do - make that a lot of scrambling to do.

I happen to know that guy, if an AK member wanted them I would go get them and put them in my garage until you find a way to get them to you.
He's also usually somewhat flexable on his prices. PM me if you want about these.

I heard from the seller who indicated that he had some local offers to buy the Quantums intact so if I was still interested to let him know. I suggested that because of the logistical problems I would have to solve and the additional expense involved in transporting them, that if someone local was seriously interested in buying them and keeping them intact that my offer should be put aside.

In the end if the goal of keeping these beauties from being broken up is accomplished I can certainly sacrifice my desire to have them and maybe another pair will come along a little closer geographically.

I thank the two AK'ers who made very generous offers for doing so and will let everyone know how this plays out. And thanks to the OP for calling out attention to this.

When I start even considering how to get them to temporary storage in WA until I can either fly or drive up in order to drive them back to the Bay Area - that's no whisper.

I've done crazier things in my life and I've just spend money and time bringing my Monitor IIa's back to probably way better than original, but boy those are some fine looking speakers and I don't want to even think about how good they probably sound. And the thought of the drivers being pulled out a pair at a time and sold off made me ill.

I'm not against parting out speakers when they are not worth the time and money to restore and otherwise how would any of us ever get spare or replacement parts. I even recently bought a pair of the original Infinity Monitors just to get the Walsh tweeters which I knew were in good condition, for spares, and I made sure ahead of time that the seller was willing to pull and ship just the the drivers to me. I was very explicit how I wanted the Walsh's packed to protect them and that they should be shipped separate from the woofers and mids and he was terrific about following my instructions. So I've also got a pair of spare woofers that I refoamed although they are not exactly the same as the one's in my IIa's, and a pair of mids which I don't think were ever used in any other Infinity model but the point is, the cabs were trashed and the original irreplaceable foam wrap around grills were gone and I didn't want to pay way too much shipping for cabs I didn't need or want and I got my Walsh's.

This situation however, is very different and these Quantums need to be saved by somebody. . . . . or me.

It wasn't me, but coincidentally I just bought a pair of Quantum 2s today, along with a pair of Quantum Jrs and an Accuphase E-202 integrated amp.

Would have been nice to have a foursome of the Q2s, but would need a bigger house.
 
Congrats, that oughta be some nice gear. :thmbsp: I recently contacted a guy about that model Accuphase, probly the same one, but felt it was a bit high-priced. I know Accuphase has a great rep, but it's a brand I've never heard personally, & I have too many pots in the fire already. ;)

Spaceman, probably the same guy, he wanted, IMO, too much, but came down considerably when I put in the offer for the Quantum 2s, the Quantum Jrs and the Accuphase.

I put some stuff on CL yesterday to finance this deal and luckily sold a few things quickly enough to pick up the pieces today. The cabinets on both the Q2 and the Jrs are beautiful. They don't make 'em like they used to.
