Watkins Woofer question

I see where Watkins Engineering is again selling the dual voice coil Watkins Woofer. They are $350 a pair and new. The site states they have vinyl cones, but the originals had polypropylene cones. So, I guess this means they aren't like the originals. Should they perform the same. I haven't seen a picture of the new ones so I don't know if they look different or not. Anybody know anything about these two woofers. Thanks.

Some of the originals (mine) were paper also. It would be interesting to hear them side by side - but for me, not interesting enough to by any.

Here's a pic of a newer woofer next to an older one. The woofer cone looks and feels to be of similar material but the inner cone is poly, not cloth. It works fine.

Yes they are. And, as stated elsewhere, the woofers were hooked up wrong when I bought them about a year and a half ago. I refoamed them myself but one just wouldn't sound right, so I bought a new one. Yes, it is the black one.

Yup and neither of those look like the woofs in my QLS-III. Go figure.. mine are a sort of grey with a tad of sparkle, I guess mine are some sort of paper. I'll take paper, not plastic... and call it green.

Cheers,

Bob

Interesting, I was on checking the Watkins site and they were suggesting (I think) that their dual coil woofers could go in a Kappa. Hmmmm.... I have a pair of Kappa 7's that soon will need crossover refurbishing, maybe a second low pass could be added....hmmmmm!
