this thing has been running on same battery for more than 15 years. Unbelievable

What a marvel to use so little energy from a little battery for so long.

I don’t wear it anymore so it just sits waiting for it to die, it won’t.

btw if you are a mechanic or work in the field and are prone to beating the hell out of things these old Casio’s are virtually indestructible. I know, they were my watch of choice most of my career.

I use the equivalent Timex Expedition. The Timex's eventually fail due to work hardening of the button springs, (but not the battery).

Yep. My work around the house watch. I know that it's at least 10 yrs. old and going strong.

I have used 3 different Casio timepieces in the past. One of them had an integrated calendar up to the year 2029 (IIRC).
They didn't last long but not due to electronic issues. For some reason, it appears like the sweat from my skin corroded the nickel/crome plating of the case and exposed a serrated edge revealing the bronze (probably) case. This had the destructive effect of ruining the sleeve edges of my long sleeved shirts. By the time I realized this, I had ruined shirts worth 3 times what the timepiece was worth.

By 1990, I was given a plastic TAG Heuer quartz timepiece that still works and is my backup watch. Since 1992, I've been wearing a Rolex datejust that is not as accurate as a quartz timepiece but both the case and bracelet are still like new.

But I do have a soft sport for Casio calculators. Still have and use my fx-3600p "scientific calculator" that I bought when I was at 11th grade. Back in 1979. 40+ years and still going strong.

I found a similar Casio watch washing around in the ocean surf in 1995, and used it as a pocket watch until some time in the new millennium as I recall. I agree, they do seem to be tough and efficient watches.
