We like clean records - So where's the dust cover?

I can watch my record spinning just fine through my clear dust over btw. Are some not transparent?
My Quasar stereo system has a brown-tinted dust cover. You can still see through it, but it's a pretty dark tint.

sI think the cover idea could have started to protect the top components from getting physically damaged while not in use, as much as for dust problems. If you prefer to use a lid on a vintage table, maybe check and adjust the worn hinges to where the lid touches the front again, and closes completely, so you can tap down on the front of the lid it doesnt move. Also its probably best to be closed solid to the tiny bumpers, than having the lid vibrating as it floats 1/8" above the front, then you have a big piece of plastic hanging loose causing vibrations that we can actually see if walking close to a table that is not hanging from the ceiling. I want to do a test someday, with a speaker near the table playing at a decent volume, and see if the cover up, or closed could possibly help the sound in a different way, by isolating the cartridge from outside speaker sound waves, I want to find out if the needle only responds to physical vibrations from bass and the room , or does it have microphonic qualities, that can be better isolated to the record and needle.

What do u mean Lavane? Why would it sound any different?
Dunno, but It did. It wasnt a cheap table either. An Elac quartz locked direct drive with a machined platter. I removed the cover and finely left it for dead in a dusty west Texas garage.

On a more serious note.
I think the lid thing is an "each to his own" thing.
I don't really detect any differences on my
PL- 570. Sounds great up or down.
