Weird Acoustic Research AR-4xa speakers?

I am looking to buy a pair of AR-4xa speakers ($120) locally but I am confused by how they look. The woofers look very different between the two. Also, it appears that somebody applied some type of sealant around and over the edges of the drivers - should this be a reason for concern? Finally, tweeters don't look like what I remember seeing online.

Can anybody please confirm that these are indeed 4xa's? Below are all the images the seller provided... According to the seller, they sound great but I am yet to listen to them - probably, tomorrow.

Go take a listen just to be sure but, those look like AR woofers. AR changed cosmetic styles of woofers every now and then dependent on year. They look like AR variants however, you'd be completely certain by removing each woofer and checking the woofers themselves, then post photos for answers Go to the main site I've linked below and ask there.
