Weird computer problem - Any suggestions?

The scroll button function on my mouse has been going completely haywire. Instead of scrolling the page, It starts changing my text size, scrolling backward and forward through web pages, shifting to capitals and other actions that make no sense.

I've tried reinstalling the driver and reinstalling Windows XP and it still keeps happening. I have P-cillin anti-virus and am showing no viruses when it scans and I bought a new mouse.

Anybody ever had or seen this kind of trouble? Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated as it is making my computer virtually unusable.

Thank you
Lee

Your keyboard is the problem, not the mouse. Scrolling web pages is done with shift+scroll wheel, and font sizes with ctrl+scroll wheel. Sounds like you got some sticky keys...

Mice and keyboards are so cheap, replace them if that solves the problem you're all set, if not return them and get your $$$ back.

I've taken my keyboards apart and just cleaned them.

Many times it solves problems, and just makes the keyboard smoother. Simple maintenance.

I remember one time i spilled salsa all over my keyboard! I thought it was shot but i let it dry and flacked it off.:withstpd:

Thanks!

Duh!

Sounds very possible. A little embarrassed I didn't think of that! But then again, neither did the guy at the store that sold me the computer................

Thanks a ton!

Keyboards can be had for like $10 why even bother cleaning them? ;)

I am sure Jeff Gordon just buys a new one when they get dirty ;)

Gordon has his girlfriend buy it for him.

No need to waste his time on Keyboards, or building his own computers!;) :D

I'm not really a nascar fan...

So, would someone care to tell me what all of the contreversy over Jeff Gordon is about?

But seriously

Try opening your Control Panel, click on the "Mouse" icon and see if you can change the settings. Some scroll mice let you set the functions of the wheel.
