Weird rubber stuffs in spade connectors

Hello All

Just ordered some Nakamichi spade connectors online but noticed a strange type of rubber/plastic inside each screw part.
I can already see this presenting a problem with getting the 14 AWG speaker wire.
Is it some type of protection material or have I been mugged off?

My best guess, and it's only a guess, perhaps it's to isolate the wire from the casing?
So if two adjacent cases touch they won't short out.
But I don't think that's it as I don't recall seeing any other spades with that stuff inside the barrel.

It's dodge whatever it is. I've sent them back and awaiting a refund.
I thought about what you said but as it wasn't on my previous set which work perfectly I felt this could be an issue.
I can only see this being glued in which didn't sit well with Me.
I guess this is a lesson from looking for dirt cheap components.

It seems, for the most part, Nakamichi terminals have been well regarded (at least they were a few years ago) considering their price point.
I wonder if
a) they changed the construction
)b you got faulty terminals
c) you got counterfeits

Yours don't look like the other Nakamichi terminals I just looked at. Makes me lean towards counterfeit, but that's just a hunch. There could be different versions for different locales, and based on your post wordings (dodge, mugged off) I'm guessing you may be outside the USA?
There are some that have a silver/gray outer covering, I suppose somehow it got inside the terminal rather than the outside, but just the shape of the bare terminals makes me wonder if they are genuine.

is that bit glued in? Almost looks like a piece of heat shrink tubing stuffed down in the hole. If it will just pop out, I'd probably remove it and use the plugs like normal.

The Nak plugs I have do not have that inside.
 
It's for if you want it to LOOK like you have a spade on the end of a wire but don't want the two to actually make connection.

I've received several connectors with these inserts. Right or wrong, I understood them to just be there so the screws wouldn't go all the way IN through the threads and fall out.

Just a humble opinion, though I do remember seeing a YouTube video on diy connectors and the demonstrator said to just pull them out... :dunno:
