Were CS88a Cloth surrounds doped?

I have a pair of CS-88a's in excellent shape. I bought them from the original owner and they were never repaired. I am going to recap and refinish and thought about resealing the surrounds but they do not appear to have been sealed from the factory. The fb cones have a silk like soft green surround that is very flexible and I see no signs of any sealant. Were these sealed to begin with and it disappeared? I would hate to make them less compliant and off spec by unnecessary sealing. There is no port so either this cloth is very tightly woven or they need sealer.

Your CS88A surrounds were not doped. The original surrounds were fabricated to be air tight without the need for additional sealing. Leave them alone.

The tweets, though, look to have foam surrounds. If yours are still good, you are very fortunate. Be careful with them.

Thanks for the reply. I was hoping for that answer. My tweets are fine and compliant. I am truly blessed. I am going to get decent caps for the xover and pair these with my new as of yesterday The Fisher x-101-b integrated amp after doing some recapping and bias setting....
