Whafedale Linton vs Klipsch RP 6000f

Dear All

I would like to seek your views on a lpurchasing the Wharfedale Linton 85th Anniversary speakers to replace my Klipsch RP 6000f. I have owned the Klipsch tower speakers for 3.5 years now. All my matching gear is Klipsch which includes the centre, subs and surround dipole speakers. Well now I intend to have a different feel.

Am looking at the Wharfedale 85th Anniversary speakers as my fronts. I am well aware that tonality wise it is completely different from Klipsch. But I really like the vintage feel and after 3.5 years, perhaps it's time to switch to a more classic vintage revived sound- warmish. Heard a lot of good reviews about the Lintons and its price is affordable.

I would like to hear your views if replacing the Klipsch with Lintons is a good move. And will the Lintons be good with home theatre, matching with my klipsch centre. Movies wise I have an Onkyo amp RZ 8300. Music wise, I have an XtZ A2 300 power amp and a Schitt Freya + tube amp to drive the speakers.

My room is relatively small 10 feet by 10 feet, with an open space at one end. I have carpet and acoustic absorbers opposite my speakers on the walls.

Never heard those particular Klipsch but I'm familiar with others. The Wharfdales are a very nice speaker, especially when on the dedicated stands. Yes, they will be warmer than the Klipsch at volume but honestly, both of those speakers are a little much for a 100 SF room. I don't know how you place them effectively along a 10' wall if you're trying to stay off the corner by a foot or two. As far as timbre matching with the center and rears I suspect no but AV systems aren't my thing. You have a lot going on in a small room when you consider all of your speakers and sub. If it were my room, I'd look to get good sound in a small footprint for hifi.
 
I heard the Lintons at Axpona when they first came out, not a huge surrounds system guy here, but the Lintons were a incredible sounding g speaker that I some day will own.like a lot of us here , I need to move 3 or 4 sets out the door , before I get another set . :)

Thanks for sharing. To be accurate, my listening area is 100 sf not my room. My sound system is in the living room which is elongated ( rectangular) with an open space. One side there is a short wall (10feet) with a balcony door. On the other side I have a long wall with an open space. The long wall is about 25 feet where the speakers subs and amps are placed.. So I have some room to place the Klipsch speakers about a foot away from the wall. I calculated if I do get the Lintons I can pull it out say 35cm from the wall ( from rear cabinet to the wall)

I just listened to some Linton 85th in Saturday. They are indeed very nice. I don't know how much you're into watching movies with surround sound (I'm not - rather be listening to music) but consider this?? There are some good soundbars/sound bases out there. You could get one, lose the sub and all the Klipsch and just have the Lintons for music. You probably won't need a sub as they play pretty solid down to almost 40Hz. Guess it depends on how much TV/movies you watch.

A Good suggestion. But I do watch more movies than listening to music say 60/40. So a tough choice to remove everything and go for soundbars.
