Wharfdale speakers???

I have a pair that I use in my garage. They sound great with jazz and acoustic stuff and the bass always sounds right even if they don't go really low. They don't take a lot of power, especially for acoustic suspension types.

They look to have very nice veneer even though mine really need to be cleaned up.

I had a pair of the W20 Dentons. Same drivers in a smaller cabinet. The upholstered grill is just velcroed on. You should be able to pry it off with a butter knife.

Very nice (if fragile) tweeters in those. The "purple jellyfish" dome tweet. If you don't like the speaks, you could recoup your 10 bucks a few times over just selling those.

If the resistors are in spec, just leave them and put the money into the caps. Try a set of older PIOs. They work well with the older SuperTweeter. Also, when replacing the caps, get a voltage close to the originals or calculate the voltage. The cap acts as a fuse and can protect the tweeter. Persons tend to dump in high voltage caps for various reasons, defeating on of the benefits of having the cap. If going to a higher voltage, calculate and add a fast acting fuse in the speaker wiring as the tweeters are fragile and the vc is very heat sensitive.
