Was so lucky to find this pair of Dovedale which are in showroom condition and sound amazing. After getting them, from a fella in his nineties who said he never moved them and hasn’t listened to to them in over thirty years, I went into cleaning them up cosmeticly.
When ready, I slowly powered them and ran them very conservatively on easy jazz for a few hours before moving the knob up and testing them with other music types.
These speakers are absolutely amazing with a very wide stage, good instrument separation, and depth that makes you want to raise that needle.
I’m powering them with a Cambridge Audio Edge A which gives a perfect opportunity for the Dovedales to shine their best. And brother they do sparkle better than any Brit has a right to do.
All the other one I see are covered in a black cloth but these have a beautiful woven grill cloth with a wood brace just above the woofer. The cabinets are two tone teak with an artful archer the front with a badge which looks like brass jewelry on it.
Why do these Dovedales differ so from the one I’ve seen online, including at Wharfedale itself.
