wharfedale E50 speakers

Hi I,m looking at a pair of wharfedale E50 speakers on a local buy and sell site .The guys asking 250 for the pair which I,m not willing to pay that much I thought I,d go 150 tops .any thoughts on this are theses speakers that rare and what are they worth assuming they are in good shape .

Take a good look at the rubber surrounds on the woofers - on the E series they sometimes become unglued from the cone.

Definitely well-made speakers. Cast frame woofers, with large magnets. Personally, I find the appearance a bit cheesy. The sound is a matter of taste and not like other Wharfedales. Very dynamic and crystal clear. I find the horn tweeter at bit much for my tastes, but the E series have lots of fans and do seem to fetch good prices. A friend of mine had a pair and loved them.

Sealy is right on. I have a set, like them a bunch. Don't go real deep. Yes, check the surrounds and glue them back down, I had to. Crisp, efficient, good on lots of material, EZ to drive, well built and yes, cheezy looking mainly because the cast baskets look like plastic trim rings. I have often thought of painting them black so you can't see them through the very nice grills.

I have mine bi-amped with 80hz up going to the E50 and below going to a Janis sub. VERY good sound and will pound out rock as well as spill out jazz and finer music. Fun speakers for sure. IMHO $250 is WAY to much though. $150 or less for a nice pair would be closer.
