Wharfedale E70 crossover question

Hi,

I know nothing about filters/crossovers, so I need your advice regarding a pair of Wharfedale E70s.

A friend wants to remove the bass/middle/treble controls following a dodgy intervention by the previous owner.

Would removing the controls in green in the following schematic to keep only the filter section in red result in a simplified section as in the second picture, with only three inductors in use instead of five?

I would use a resistor with the tweeter. Otherwise it could be too hit and shouty. Also you could overdrive and burn the tweeter out. If the 70's are anything like the 90's, there are multiple versions using different drivers. If that drawing at the bottom is from a different version, it may not sound right. If you want to keep the selector switches out of the circuit, you can just select the resistors used for high, normal or low. You could start with normal ans see if it sounds right. Then adjust the values of the resistors to high or low if needed.
The problem is I don't see any resistor values listed on the drawing. If they are still on the crossover that would be a big help.

Good point. I'll start with a 2R2 or thereabout resistor as in the second schematic if I can't find out the original value.
Would any wattage do?

You could go with a 10 watt to be on the safe side. Either one of those 5% tolerance white ceramic wirewound bricks or some 1% tolerance precision wire wound resistors if you wand to spend a couple bucks more.
I saw someone wrote in a different value on that schematic on the bottom. Maybe buy both values, the original and the one written in and decide what one sounds best to you.
They shouldn't cost much.
 
Thanks. I couldn't retrieve the original resistor, so I'll try both values from the simplified schematic and see (or rather hear) how it goes.
 
One more question, please tell me if I'm wrong:
In the schematic below, to do away with the controls (in the green square) and use the 0 value for Low, Mid and High, should I connect B to R to BR with a piece of wire, and B to G/Y with R1?
