Wharfedale Model?

Can anyone help me identify what model Wharfedale speakers I have? These are vintage late 1960's - early 1970's. Please see attachments.

My late Father had a pair of early sand-filled Wharfedale W60 speakers.
Weighted a TON, if I remember correctly!?

Yup. Not sure if it's just a W60 or if it's got a letter after the number (as in W60B or C - Definitely-not W60D or W60E, as those were acoustic-suspension while the OP's are ported). Should be rear-loaded/sand-filled cabs. could those be W60B's?

Is there a date on the woofers?

Low-wattage is the way to go with speakers like these. I'd try a old tube amp if you have one, or at least a low-powered, late '60's/early '70's solid-state receiver or amp.

It doesn't have the model printed on the rear tweeter-level adjuster panel (either right-below or right-above the +/- terminals)?? The later W60D's and W60E's usually DID have the model # on the back panel, but I'm not sure about the older ones - Some don't say anything.

Those cabs aren't a far cry from the W60E's I have as well as the W60D's I've seen here in the US (closer to the W60D's, although these are clearly-NOT W60D's in this thread). Mine are front-loaded, but the D's were rear-loaded like these (although the D's are a completely-different speaker from these).

I didn't think that any Wharfedales were US made. They are based in England...

Probably W60 (no letter) from the early 60's.

Cabs were made in US, England & Hong Kong

You can tell the US made buy the Higher density wood

I didn't know that RS was a Wharfedale distributor. Very-cool. I wouldn't have guessed.

Great link, by the way. I had no idea that RS sold Dual turntables back then (I love how you hear the page-flipping sound when click on "Next").

And you could buy old HH Scott tube amps there too?? Wow! Man, I wish I could go back in time. Talk about 1-stop shopping.

I suspect mine are hong kong since they have a big radio people ltd. steel tag on the back. They are seq. numbered though thats kinda cool. Those look just like my w60s with no letter.

edit: I just noticed that my tweets are on the opposite side of these though, interesting.

Appears the W60's went for 116.50 with my finish. I have about 15 bucks less then that in my pair. Not a bad investment. The OP look very nice.

Opps these one Might be US made.

I looked at amcrebelfans his look to built of plywood.

Mine are US but they have stain on the rear edge of the cabinet

where the OP's above dont.

still not sure need to see the rears
