Wharfedale or what?

Hello everyone. Just picked up a pair of speakers at a local GW. Badges are missing on the grills but the back says W-series Model W.30. Now I have searched near and far on web to find info. The closest thing I can find is an E30 wharfedale which closely resembles the ones I have. Can anyone help me identify they speakers and maybe tell me what year? I don't beleive they are vintage, but still made in England.

I can see the resemblance you're talking about, but they seem to be not quite the same. The most obvious difference is the mirror-image design, but also the lack of a L-Pad, the number of screws around the drivers other than the tweeter, the tweeter itself (cone versus horn, I think) and so on.

If it was a Wharfedale, I would think it would have a design like this on the back:

I will be interested to see what it turns out to be.

wharfedale ID

here is a pic of the back. Identification. Cabinet is vinyl coating (wood-grain). They don't sound to bad but lack bass. I have them hooked up to an infinity small sub-woofer to give a little punch.
