Wharfedale W70D?

Hey Everyone,

About a month ago I was given a pair of Wharfedale W70D's. I have got a lot of info on them here but can not seem to find out what year it was produced, the serial # is 8546 if that helps. After cleaning them up, both cabinets look great and only one tweeter is not working. They really sound good. However, I have no room for these beast and the wife wants them gone. So what are they worth? Also, they came with glass tops. Can anyone tell me if these glass tops came with speakers origially?

Sadly one tweeter not working is kind of a deal killer. I would try to get one off the 'bay and throw some new caps in them before selling. Look for something like this

I'm guessing the ones you have look like that but without the plastic bit?

If you find ones that look kind of similar to above but with a smaller opening in the plastic those are later and not exactly the same.

Not sure what you can realistically get for them, but they are nice sounding speakers. I gave up and shoved some Morel tweeters in mine as both my purple domes were gone but I was in a hurry to hear them make noise so wanted a quick/easy solution. That seems to work well as well.

Look for a date written on the back of the driver cones. I would doubt the glass is original but may have saved their tops over time at least. Then again, I am not sure of anything with these.

I would appreciate any info you still have on them. I have mfg spec sheet & crossover freqs. Need Individual speaker specs, and crossover schematic with attenuator pad info. Anything you have or where to get it is appreciated. Thanks Dave
