Yep. If the owner contacts me with full details so I know he/she is the real deal, they can have the CD back for the cost of shipping. I'd hate to have lost this in error - I like bargains, not theft!

I very much doubt it...but I will certainly ask them. I imagine the owner would be thrilled and relieved to get his/her disc back.

Here's the speakers after cleaning and lemon oil was applied to all visible veneer, followed by buffing. Have cleaned grill cloth, but there are a few nicks - I will recover the grill frames in due course. Veneer is stated as 'American Walnut' on a label attached to the side - can't get over just how good these speakers sound - on solid low stands they would be even better (my old timber floor is not ideal for speakers to stand on). Sure, they have some battle scars, but I've seen worse - I would not want to re-veneer them - I can easily live with the scrapes!

What CDP was this disc in? If it was a botl model, it may have just been stuck in there by someone testing the player at the store... maybe even the staff if they do testing at your store. You might even find the empty jewel box!

I will look out for that...it was a mid-range CDP (model number is one of the ID questions I will ask if the owner contacts me, so if I told you that, I'd have to kill you)

I have posted a 'found' thread on the Music Forum of AK to try to attract the owner (e.g. via Google search) and will ask the store if any recent registered donors have asked about a missing CD.

BTW, you might want to try some Old English Scratch Remover. It should make those scratches on the side much less noticeable.

BTW, you might want to try some Old English Scratch Remover. It should make those scratches on the side much less noticeable.

Jimbofish - your angst is painful to hear You have to stop rationalizing and drive - you'll probably find a pair of JBL Century L-100's for $10 now...

I did use Old English scratch remover. I am wondering about a very light use of fine grade sandpaper (now that I've oiled them, it should gum up perfectly)

Maybe the price of gas will plunge overnight, making trips to TS's viable again. My nearest is a 24 mile round trip and usually has nothing of value in it. I can't drive past an open TS, though - never know what you might find.

hi all i posted the same ? about the american monitors when i found mine. gw 20 bucks they are really nice sounding i couldnt get mine apart either. a week later differant thrift store i found a set of synergystic's that looked almost the same as the american monitors. all four are in use in the baasment surround set up scewed a board to the back of the syns hung them from the rafters for rears enjoy them i do mine if you find out whats in them let me know
