What are these speakers?

Found these on Craigslist - what are these speakers? I've never heard of or seen anything like them before, but it is rather unusual with the speakers on the top and being a 5-way. Any information including what they're worth and the like would be appreciated.

Those were made under the BSR brand at some point years ago. Not sure if anyone else used that design as well. Haven't heard a pair in 20+ years or so. Nothing major to me but you'd have t hear them to judge that for yourself.

Ah, thanks for those pictures - the side view says it all for me. They're wider than they are deep - which is pretty much never good from what I've heard and seen. Still a strange design, are the top drivers supposed to be kind of like reflecting technology like the Bose 901s use or some such?

Oh, I'm not saying that a thin speaker is never good - but when we're talking about a traditional designed speaker with standard drivers...it's never good from what I've seen, makes it seem like a super cheap speaker with tiny drivers in it. I heard Dahlquist DQ-10s and really liked them, have also heard Magnepans - but not in a critical A/B comparison.

OK... ever heard/seen a pair of Boston Acoustics A150 loudspeakers?
Thin can be a very deliberate design choice, even for a relatively traditional "monkey coffin" loudspeaker enclosure.

Sure haven't, there's way too many speakers out there for me to have heard of most of them. Speaking of thin, I know you got stuff like Axiom M22's with their super thin on wall speakers which I somehow imagine probably do sound good:

You can't tell me that a lot of them aren't really thin due to just being low grade speakers though. I don't deny nice ones exist, there's just a lot of them that aren't.

My Mach 1's have more width vs depth.......I can also say that the same is true with my Altec's........and some others.......
