You and I see eye to eye on the Symphonic metal part as its the female vocalist that draws me in. Not much of a growler fan either but when done right can highly effective. And like you, its always great to change things up.

i believe i first heard him playing with Lowel Fulson then i saw this recording and between the itch he hear him solo and that damn Polar Bear on the label i had to pick it up and it is a great set of music one set from 82 solo piano second set with line ups that will knock you out on the Boogie Shuffle side which is a good side of the street to stand on.

A bad acoustic space will turn any system into a polished turd and that's where gear heads make their biggest single mistake. Address the elephant in the room (room acoustics) and even modest systems will sound beautiful.
